Pulse Copy Services was founded by IUB students in May 2005 as a student-run printing and publishing outlet to provide financial support to the campus newspaper PulseoftheWorld.com. With the addition of Pulse Express in 2006 and other operations, we have grown to a sizable business operation involving 15 employees. We directly cater to the community of all Jacobs University students through our daily convenience store Pulse Express. Our corporate brand “PCS” serves Jacobs faculty and administration staff as well as numerous external customers through our various printing and publishing services.
The Pulse continues to be strictly student-run and our daily work draws on the broad range of our highly motivated, creative and dynamic team.
For every hour spent at the Pulse Express, you will gain invaluable knowledge, indispensable experience and great friends!
Your responsibilities
- Independent sales assistant work
- Production of course readers
- Production of print, mailing and binding products
- Correspondence with student, faculty and admin customers
- Production of print, mailing and binding products
- Approx. 6-12 hours/week of work; strong flexibility for peak periods expected
- Sometimes work on weekends or even at night (up until 1am), at times under demanding conditions
- Early arrival at the beginning of each semester required
Experience
- Experience in cashier operation and sales skills an asset, but not required
- Experience in copying/printing an asset, but not required
Skills and Requirements
- Strong reliability and detail orientation
- Ability to multitask and learn quickly
- Ability to work very independently without supervision
- Exceptional social skills with customers and within the team
- Good computer skills to handle various publishing software an asset
Please note
- Your orientation and introduction will take place immediately
- Availability for reader production during the last weeks of intersession and the last week of summer break is expected
- This is a long-term commitment for preferably two or three years while being a student at Jacobs University
- Only Freshmen or students intending to stay on for graduate programs are eligible for application
Compensation
- €8 hourly wage
